AccurioJet KM-1e achieves deinking certification for uncoated paper

Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e press has been accredited by INGEDE, the International Association of the Deinking Industry, for the deinking of uncoated paper printed on the system, enabling such papers to go into the recycling process.

Deinking is the removal process of printing ink from recovered paper during recycling. Key process steps for deinking are the detachment of ink film from the paper, ink fragmentation into a suitable size range and removal from the pulp slurry.

Konica Minolta’s digital inkjet B2+ sheetfed UV colour inkjet, which has been referred to as the Swiss Army Knife of printing because it has so many uses, had previously been accredited the INGEDE deinking certification for coated papers. After rigorous testing and evaluation of uncoated papers by INGEDE, in which the KM-1e press achieved an extremely high rating in the “Assessment of Print Product Recyclability – Deinkability Test” (INGEDE Method 11), the accreditation has been extended further.

A Word from Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia

“With the deinking accreditation, this is another positive boost for customers of the AccurioJet KM-1e” said Mr Koji Yoshida, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia. “We are proud to receive the accreditation from INGEDE. This is a testament to our extensive hard work and inspiration made possible by our development teams and underpins our commitment towards sustainability.”

About the AccurioJet KM-1e B2+ UV Inkjet Press

Launched in May 2021, Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1, which is referred to as the “Swiss Army Knife” of printing thanks to its versatility with substrates and applications. Its successor, the AccurioJet KM-1e will benefit from Konica Minolta’s unique Dot Freeze Technology™. The patented process, known as DFT, has overcome one of the fundamental challenges of inkjet printing – uncontrolled ink dot movement that reduces print quality and workable materials. The technology uniquely self-freezes ink drops upon contact with materials, resulting in superior colour stability and consistency and excellent results with instantly dry perfects prints.

Customers can experience a live demonstration of the AccurioJet KM-1e from their own homes or offices with a Konica Minolta representative through scheduled appointments in Konica Minolta’s very own Virtual Showroom. This new immersive experience for customers and prospects is part of its holistic approach in the “new normal”.

With the accreditation by INGEDE, Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e is a press that enables almost endless possibilities for printing on a vast range of different substrates, and with so few digital presses having achieved this deinking standard, the press stands out even more from the competition now, giving our customers greater possibilities to grow their businesses in a sustainable way.
